Beshoy El-Qomos Ephraim: We Seek to Encourage Christians in the Diaspora to Visit the Holy Family Route

Beshoy El-Qomos Ephraim, Director of Trip Travel, said that organizing tourism trips from the United States to Egypt, particularly visits to the Holy Family Route, reflects a commitment to encouraging Christians in the diaspora, as well as people of different nationalities, to discover this unique spiritual and historical heritage.

He explained that he will organize a trip next May featuring a diverse program that combines religious, cultural, and leisure tourism. The journey will begin in Cairo and include a Nile cruise, visits to several sites along the Holy Family Route in Minya and Assiut, as well as visits to the monasteries of Wadi El-Natrun and Holy Family Route sites in Cairo. The program will also include visits to a number of Egypt’s major tourist destinations, including Hurghada.

He emphasized that the Holy Family Route represents an important part of Egypt’s memory and heritage and is much more than a religious pilgrimage. Visiting the route allows travelers to discover an important chapter of Egypt’s history and civilization and to connect with places associated with the Holy Family’s journey during their time in Egypt.

“We believe it is important for Christians in the diaspora to see Egypt for themselves and experience this journey by visiting the churches, monasteries, and sites associated with the Holy Family Route. At the same time, they can discover the wide range of cultural and tourist attractions that Egypt has to offer,” he said.

He noted that encouraging Christians living abroad to visit Egypt also provides an opportunity to strengthen the connection of younger generations with their homeland and Coptic heritage, while offering them an authentic picture of Egypt and its religious, cultural, and tourism diversity.

He also pointed out that he had previously organized similar trips to Egypt and, during one of those visits, met with His Holiness Pope Tawadros II in Cairo. His Holiness encouraged them to continue organizing such trips and has consistently emphasized the importance of Christians in the diaspora visiting Egypt and discovering its churches, monasteries, and historical and tourist landmarks.

Beshoy El-Qomos Ephraim concluded by emphasizing that the goal is to continue organizing trips that bring together faith, history, culture, and tourism, while providing Christians in the diaspora and people of different nationalities with an opportunity to discover Egypt and the Holy Family Route firsthand.
